Summer Black Arts Writing Scholarship Deadline May 31 Scholarships Deadline May 31 BFTT Summer Fellowship The Black Fire—This Time (BFTT) Summer Fellowship fosters the careers of poets and writers at all stages of development through independent study, readings, Q&A sessions with prominent authors and sponsored prizes. Fellows are provided exclusive access to the Black Fire—This Time Digital Collection, which contains cultural gems from the Black Arts Movement along with an extended set of hard-to-find and out-of-print works not found in the print edition.   From June to August, BFTT Summer Fellows will work on the project of their choice. CRWROPPS Post: Emerging Writer's Contest

The   Ploughshares Emerging Writer's Contest   deadline has been extended one more week! Writers who have yet to publish a book of their own writing may submit fiction, poetry, or nonfiction for consideration by Sunday, May 22 at noon (Eastern).   Just four more days to apply for our fall residency season!  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  Fall Residency Applications Close 5/15 The Sundress Academy for the Arts (SAFTA) is now accepting applications for short-term writing residencies in all genres—poetry, fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, screenwriting, journalism, academic writing, and more—for their fall residency period which runs from August 27, 2022 to January 1, 2022. These residencies are designed to give writers time and space to complete their creative projects in a quiet and productive environment.   Each farmhouse residency costs $300/week, which includes a room of one's own, as well as access to our communal kitchen, bathroom, office, and living space, plus wireless internet.
