CRWROPPS POST: Arkana is reading for its 7th issue!

Greetings!

Arkana, a literary journal of mysteries and marginalized voices, run by the Arkansas Writers MFA Program, is now seeking submissions for its 7th issue. We're looking for quality work that reflects our mission: to seek and foster a sense of shared wonder by publishing inclusive art that asks questions, explores mystery, and works to make visible the marginalized, the overlooked, and those whose voices have been silenced. We are especially interested in work that explores the identities and experiences of those listed below:

·       People and writers of color, including but not limited to African Americans, Asian Americans, Indian Americans, Latinx and Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Middle Easterners, and Pacific Islanders.

·       Immigrants.

·       Translated work and work by writers who do not live in the United States.

·       LGBTQ+ writers.

·       Neurodivergent writers.

·       Women and women writers.

·       Inhabitants of and writers from the Delta.

·       Work about disability or by disabled writers.

·       Work by writers fifty years old or older.

·       The resource poor, or work about poverty, whether urban or rural.

·       Those who have experienced incarceration.

·       Work about the nonhuman, or work that challenges anthropocentrism.

·       Work in genres not often featured in literary journals, such as hybrid pieces, illustrated narratives, and short scripts (10 to 20 pages) for the stage or screen.

We publish fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, as well as scripts and illustrated narratives. We nominate our writers' work yearly for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and other prizes. We promote our writers by posting regularly on social media and featuring audio of the pieces published in each issue. All writers will be considered for $50 Editor's Prize Awards.

The deadline for Issue 7 is October 31st. To submit, visit the Submit page of our website: https://arkanamag.org/submit/. For any questions, send us an email at arkanamag@gmail.com

Thank you,

The Arkana Editors
