CRWROPPS Post: Nowhere Magazine

If we haven't yet been introduced, I'm the managing editor for Nowhere Magazine, a literary travel-writing publication founded in 2008 that awards two authors per year $1,000 each for their winning entry into our spring and fall writing contests. We are in the midst of our fall version and I was hoping you might pass word on to your master's degree candidates and graduates, as well as to interested colleagues and friends.

We publish long-form, resonant non-fiction, fiction, essays and poetry—no lists, no guides, no fluff—penned by a diverse cohort of writers. For some, Nowhere has introduced their first published piece; for others, we're a home for an outstanding reprint or an excerpt from a forthcoming book, or a way to share something traditional travel media simply doesn't notice. We read submissions blind, judge entries solely on merit and especially relish in discovering emerging talent.

Nowhere showcases a good deal of first-time writers as well as seasoned and well-known authors, and we welcome entries from your students. Our general guidelines can be found here, and details about the contests—open to submissions—are available here. Our early-bird entry fee is $20 per story; this will increase on December 1, 2019, through contest's end on January 1, 2020.
