The Fabulist Fiction Prize will be awarded for a novelette or series of short stories. Omnidawn's Fabulist Fiction Prize Last Day! Ends today, Thurs Oct 31! www.omnidawn.com/contest/fiction Please note that this year's contest has changed from a chapbook contest to a chapbook contest for either a novelette or a collection of short-stories. Our recommended length for submissions has changed from 5,000 to 12,000 words to 7,500 to 17,500 words, the most frequently recommended length for other novelette contests. Open to all writers: no expectations or limitations regarding the amount of work a writer has published. Winner receives $1,000, publication, and 100 copies.   Accepting electronic & postal submissions September 1 – October 31, 2019. www.omnidawn.com/contest/fiction/ Kellie Wells will judge Kellie Wells writes short fiction, her books include God, The Moon, and other Megafauna (pictured above), Compression Scars, winner of the Flannery O'Connor Award, Skin, published by the University of Nebraska Press, in the Flyover Fiction Series, edited by Ron Hansen, and Fat Girl, Terrestial, out from FC2. Stories and excerpts have appeared in various literary journals, including The Kenyon Review, Ninth Letter, The Fairy Tale Review, and Prairie Schooner. Her work has been awarded a Rona Jaffe Prize and the Great Lakes Colleges Association's New Writer's Award in fiction. She is a congenital Midwesterner and currently lives in Tuscaloosa. She teaches in the MFA Programs at the University of Alabama and Pacific University. Entry fee: $18 All entrants with a U.S. mailing address who pay an extra $2 to cover shipping costs will be mailed a copy of any Omnidawn book of fiction, or a copy of the winning chapbook when it is finished.
