The Poetry Society of America sponsors numerous contests including our Annual Awards, our Chapbook Fellowship, and the Four Quartets Prize. 


 
Submission Info
Annual Awards
  • Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award, $1,000
    For 10 pages of poetry from a manuscript-in-progress.
     
  • Robert H. Winner Memorial Award, $2,500
    For a manuscript of 10 pages by a poet 40 or over who has published no more than one full-length collection of poetry.
     
  • Lyric Poetry Award, $500
    For a lyric poem on any subject.
     
  • The Writer Magazine/Emily Dickinson Award, $250
    For a poem inspired by Emily Dickinson, though not necessarily in her style.

     
  • Cecil Hemley Memorial Award, $500
    For a lyric poem that addresses a philosophical or epistemological concern.
     
  • Lucille Medwick Memorial Award, $500
    For an original poem in any form on a humanitarian theme.
     
  • George Bogin Memorial Award, $500
    For a selection of four or five poems that use language in an original way to reflect the encounter of the ordinary and the extraordinary and to take a stand against oppression in any of its forms.
     
  • The Anna Rabinowitz Prize, $1,000
    Awarded to poets and their collaborators (if any) for venturesome, interdisciplinary work made in the previous year and combining poetry and any other art or discipline.
