CRWROPPS Post: Steel Toe Books Announces Prize in Prose with Guest Judge Xhenet Aliu

Steel Toe Books is looking for submissions for our 2020 Prose Contest!
We are open for submissions and the deadline is September 1st. Our guest
judge is Xhenet Aliu, whose bio
you can see below. Each award winner receives publication, $500, and a
$1000 social media and advertising
package.  All books submitted are considered for publication. In
addition to the winner, we will look to publish 1-2 other titles in each
category on a case by case basis. Our longlist, shortlist, and winners
will be announced in October 2020. Please send us your edgy and
risk-taking, diversely Americana, and dynamic work! All subject matter
welcome, inclusive of historically marginalized voices.

Xhenet Aliu's Bio:
Xhenet Aliu's novel, Brass, was awarded the 2018 Georgia Author of the
Year First Novel Prize, is a finalist for the 2020 Townsend Prize, was a
Barnes & Noble "Discover Great New Writers" selection, and was
long-listed for the 2018 Center for Fiction First Book Prize. Her debut
fiction collection, Domesticated Wild Things, won the Prairie Schooner
Book Prize in Fiction. Aliu's writing has appeared in The New York
Times, The Boston Globe, Glimmer Train, Hobart, American Short Fiction,
Lenny, LitHub, Buzzfeed, and elsewhere, and she has received fellowships
  from the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers' Conferences, a grant from the
Elizabeth George Foundation, and a fellowship from the Djerassi Resident
Artists Program, among other awards, including a special mention in the
Pushcart Prize anthology. She is an assistant professor of Creative
Writing at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and has
previously worked as an academic librarian, private investigator,
