Courtesy of Emily Rich and the Eastern Shore Writers Association:
"I am excited to announce that submissions are now open for the 2020 Bay to Ocean Anthology!
Writers may submit works of fiction, nonfiction, and/ or poetry. Final selections will be made by poet and songwriter, Truth Thomas, founder of Cherry Castle Publishing, creator of the "Skinny" poetry form, a former writer-in-residence for the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society (HoCoPoLitSo), and the managing editor of The Skinny Poetry Journal.
All selected works will be published in a handsome print journal, which will be sold at local venues and online.
Submissions accepted through the ESWA website: https://easternshorewriters.org
Deadline for submissions: March 31, 2020.
Criteria for acceptance: Excellence in writing. Our members' best work. Submissions can be stand-alone pieces or excerpts from work-in-progress, as long as they are new and original compositions that have not been published elsewhere, either online or in print.
Allowable topics or subject matter: whatever has elicited your best writing. Eastern Shore-related themes or subjects will be welcomed, but are not required.
Genres: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. You may submit in multiple genres if you choose, but each author is limited to one submission per genre.
Length limits: 5,000 words for fiction and nonfiction; up to three poems from a single author.
Compensation: each contributor will receive two free copies. Contributors may also buy additional copies at wholesale discounts, either to give away or for resale like any other published work.
Reading fee: there is no reading fee, but you must be a member of ESWA in good standing. If your membership has lapsed, simply pay the $35 yearly fee, and you'll be good to go.
The editorial staff looks forward to reading your work!
All my best,
Emily Rich
Managing Editor
Bay to Ocean Anthology"
