2020 Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest Call for Entries View this email in your browser For everyone who is missing baseball this season, we're here to tell you that the Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest is in the home stretch. It's the bottom of the ninth — have you submitted your sonnets yet? We have spent this time putting together an anthology of winning sonnets from the past five years. While we have wanted to create a companion piece to 2012's compilation This Melody Weaves In and Out for some time, we were inspired to take a swing at this when we found out about the Minnesota Author Project: Communities Create contest. We look forward to the competition and showing off your wonderful work to the literary community around the state. Win or lose, we plan to publish the anthology and will provide information about obtaining a copy at a later date. For now, we want to make sure that you don't miss the deadline for the 2020 contest. All sonnets must be received by midnight on June 1st. Please email your questions to entries@sonnetcontest.org. We're here to help! The Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest is an annual event that welcomes entries from around the world. In brief, $2,000 in prizes are offered, with a $5* entry fee for up to 3 sonnets. If you would like to submit more than 3 sonnets, then a separate entry fee will be required. The entry form is available at: sonnetcontest.org/entry-form The deadline for entries is June 1, 2020. Submissions should be made through our on-line process, with payment option by PayPal or check. If this process presents a hardship, instructions for entering by mail will be provided upon request. Just send us an email: entries@sonnetcontest.org There is no fee for entrants in the Youth category (high school and younger) or for undergraduate college students. We hope this will encourage more young people to explore the sonnet form. * If the $5 entry fee presents a financial hardship, please contact us at the email above.
