Submissions for the 2022 Legacy Awards are OPEN

Submit Book-Length Work by Black Writers by December 17, 2021

November 9, 2021 – The Zora Neale Hurston / Richard Wright Foundation invites agents and publishers to submit book-length work by Black writers to the 2022 Legacy Awards. The Submittable form must be completed and books post-marked by December 17, 2021.

Our award categories are poetrydebut fiction, fiction, and nonfiction, and our judges consider English translations (the translator need not be a Black author) and collections of short stories or essays by a single author.  All works, including U.S. editions of foreign books, must have been released in the United States within the 2021 calendar year.
