Qualifications Desired

Candidates must have a doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in English or Composition and Rhetoric and/or an MFA with a record of outstanding classroom teaching and creative publications in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or spoken word. The position may include teaching courses in Creative Writing, Gender and Body Studies, Literary Magazine Writing, Writing in the Disciplines, African-American and/or Latinx Literature, and/or developmental writing. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to successfully teach at the university level and provide a record of scholarly or creative publications. Experience teaching undeserved or underrepresented communities will be valued, as will applicants with experience with literary publications and performances.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The Department of English at Cabrini University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2020. The position is a ten-month appointment with annual review.

THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of English offers majors and minors in Literary and Cultural Studies, Gender and Body Studies, and Writing. We also offer Secondary Education Certification for English Educators as well as minors in Film and Media Studies. Our department is vibrant, productive, and innovative, and we seek a candidate with enthusiasm for classroom teaching and a flexible skill set.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 1, 2020.
