Position Summary

The Department of English offers a B.A. in English with traditional, English education, and pre-professional tracks, and minors in English and in writing. We also offer an M.A. in English with concentrations in literature, creative writing, composition, and linguistics. The mission of the department is to foster intellectual growth, creativity, and professional success in the literary arts, including the publication of the literary journal the New Mexico Review. 

Applications are invited for a nine month, tenure-track faculty position with a contract starting August 2020.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities (24 credit hours annually) include undergraduate and graduate creative writing (poetry), technical writing, freshman composition, and other courses as assigned by the department. In addition to teaching, the selected candidate will be expected to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; conduct research/creative activity in area of specialization; serve as faculty advisor for the New Mexico Review; and present research/creative activity at scholarly conferences and in professional publications.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or ABD in English, specializing in creative writing (poetry) or related area required by time of appointment, fall 2020. Demonstrated experience in teaching, research, and writing.
