Poet. Distinguished Visiting Writer. The English Department seeks applicants for the Arts & Sciences Distinguished Visiting Writer. The successful candidate will be in residence spring 2021; teach one workshop in our BFA program and one workshop in our MFA program; give a reading and a lecture; and advise theses. Minimum qualifications: MA, MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing by time of employment; at least one book or collection of poetry published by a commercial publisher (including small press) or university press; documented critical recognition consistent with a writer of national reputation (e.g., positive written reviews, awards, invited readings, scholar-in-residences); documented record of quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, (e.g., positive teaching evaluations).

At least a master's, MFA, or Ph.D., preferably in creative writing, by time of employment. Complete applications will include a cover letter outlining qualifications relevant to the position; a CV; a statement of contributions to diversity and inclusion in higher education; the names and addresses of three individuals who will be asked to provide a current, original letter of reference; a writing sample (15-25 pages); a list of courses taught, preferably brief descriptions of each; at least one sample syllabus of an undergraduate and graduate course taught, if applicable; and a transcript showing terminal degree. statement of contributions to diversity and inclusion in higher education; at least one book or collection of short stories published by a commercial publisher or nonprofit publisher (including small press) or university press or two books or collections if the degree is not in Creative Writing; documented critical recognition consistent with a writer of national reputation (e.g., positive written reviews, awards, invited readings, scholar-in-residences).; and documented record of quality teaching (e.g., positive teaching evaluations).
