Deadline for Submissions Extended to January 10!
You now have until January 10, 2023, to submit your work to the fifth annual 2023 Short Nonfiction Contest! This year's contest is judged by renowned author Leslie Jamison.

Leslie Jamison teaches at the Columbia University MFA program, where she directs the nonfiction concentration. She is the author of the essay collections The Empathy Exams (a New York Times Bestseller) and Make It Scream, Make It Burn, the novel The Gin Closet, and the critical memoir The Recovering. Her work has appeared in places including The New York Times Magazine, Harper's, Oxford American, A Public Space, Virginia Quarterly Review, and The Believer.

All writers who have not yet published a book of creative nonfiction may submit to this contest. Submissions must be 3,000 words or fewer. Click here for full submission guidelines.

The Kenyon Review will publish the winning work in a 2023 print issue, and the winning author will receive a full scholarship to attend the 2023 Writers Workshop this coming summer.

Each entrant gets a half-year subscription to the Kenyon Review, which includes the Spring 2023 and Summer 2023 issues. (Current subscribers will receive a half-year extension on their current subscription.)
