2024 BOOK CONTEST GUIDELINES

THE DYNAMO VERLAG BOOK CONTEST invites book-length manuscript submissions in poetry, prose, or any textual combination or reinterpretation of the aforementioned genres. The winning manuscript will be published by Dynamo Verlag in 2025 and its author will receive a $500 advance against book royalties (paid upon and at time of publication), as well as our professional in-house editorial, design, and publicity services (an estimated $3,000 value).

Submissions are $18 and include a copy of the winning book OR a title from our back catalog. Submissions will be accepted until June 30, 2024, or upon receiving 300 submissions, whichever happens first. We may extend the deadline as needed.

TO ENTER THE 2024 BOOK CONTEST

1) After reviewing the contest rules and guidelines, GO HERE, COMPLETE PAYMENT, AND CONFIRM YOUR CATALOG OR WINNING TITLE SELECTION. Please ensure your shipping address is current.

2) Email your full manuscript (PDF (preferred) or .doc) to dynamoverlag@gmail.com, and include your order number with your emailed manuscript. Your name on your manuscript should match the name on your order as well.

CONTEST RULES AND GUIDELINES

We strongly encourage first-time authors and those who have yet to publish a book to submit. This contest is open to all authors writing in the English language(s) aged minimum 18 years. We accept submissions from any country, however, we can only send your catalog title to a United States address.

Current and under-contract Dynamo Verlag authors are ineligible, as are any persons employed by or associated with the press.

This contest is open to poetry or prose; we simply want a scintillating book-length manuscript (minimum 8,000 words and a maximum 75,000 words for prose; minimum 80 pages for poetry) that reflects what we look for in all our publications: genius, eclecticism, and originality. We are looking for primarily textual documents; some illustrations or nontextual elements within the manuscript are acceptable, but we are not looking for a graphic novel or anything that is, broadly speaking, more graphic than textual.

The Dynamo Verlag editors will be judging all submissions and working together to select finalists and the ultimate winner. Simultaneous submissions to the contest are acceptable and indeed a necessity in this industry; please let us know ASAP if your submission has been accepted elsewhere, however, please note that no refunds can or will be issued for submissions withdrawn from our contest.

In the unlikely event that no suitable manuscript is found among entries in a given year, DV reserves the right not to award a prize, however we will exhaust every other possible (eg, deadline extensions) method before resorting to this.

Submissions are $18, paid upon submission. All submitters will receive a copy of the winning title OR a title from Dynamo Verlag's backlist. If the winning title is selected, winning title will be mailed upon the publication of the winning book. Otherwise, back catalog titles will be posted promptly once the contest deadline has closed. Submitters' preference of one of these options (winning book OR back-catalog title) must be specified when submitting.

CONTEST TIMELINE

Contest is open now through June 30, 2024. If 300 entries are collected before the end date, the contest deadline may come sooner. Deadline may be extended if needed.

Back catalog selections will be mailed out to submitters within a month of the closing of the contest. Finalists will be announced within 60 days of contest closing. Winner will be selected and announced within 120 days of contest closing. Publication and book release will be scheduled for Early/Mid 2025. Winner will be paid their $500 advance on the date of book publication if not sooner.

Professional cover design, interior design and formatting, proofreading, and publicity services will be provided to the winning author by Dynamo Verlag. These services amount to an at least $3,000 value. We pride ourselves on our beautiful books and the level of collaboration we engage in with our authors during the book design and formatting process.

Winning title selections will be mailed out to submitters upon official winning book publication.
